For having too-small warning lights, Tesla is recalling an additional 2.2 million cars

Tesla is initiating a recall of 2.2 million vehicles on American roads due to concerns about the font size of warning lights displayed on its dashboard, as outlined by federal safety regulators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall after identifying the issue during a routine examination of Tesla vehicles.

The agency's notice states that warning lights with a smaller font size may render critical safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, thereby heightening the risk of a collision.

Tesla has clarified that it has not been made aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the problem.

An over-the-air software update will rectify the issue, eliminating the need for Tesla owners to visit a service center.

The recall encompasses most, though not all, Tesla vehicles on American roads. Included are the newly released Cybertruck pickup, the Model X and Model Y SUVs up to the current 2024 model year, and the Model S and Model 3 sedans up to the 2023 model year.

This recall is notably less significant compared to previous ones issued for the electric vehicle manufacturer. In December, another over-the-air recall was enacted to restrict the usage of its Autopilot feature following a two-year investigation by the NHTSA into approximately 1,000 accidents involving the engaged feature.
