Jonathan Majors is found guilty by a jury of assault and harassment
On Monday, a New York jury convicted actor Jonathan Majors of assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend during a domestic.
Majors, a rising star who appeared in Disney's Marvel franchise and “Creed III,” was convicted of one count of 3rd-degree reckless assault and one count of harassment on Monday.
Another assault and aggravated harassment charge were dropped.
The jury deliberated for four and a half hours before deciding.
The December 4 trial stems from Majors' March domestic dispute with Grace Jabbari, his ex-girlfriend. Majors pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault and aggravated harassment.
During closing arguments last week, prosecutors said Majors “didn't hesitate to use physical violence” against Jabbari in March when he grabbed her right hand, twisted her arm behind her back, and “struck a blow” to her head.
During her closing argument, Majors' attorney called the accusations “fake” and claimed Jabbari was the aggressor in the March dispute.
Despite not testifying, Majors was in the New York City courtroom throughout the trial.
The trial halted Majors' career, so his future is uncertain. The assault conviction could land the actor in prison for a year. The harassment violation carries a maximum 15-day jail sentence and a $250 fine.
Next year's sentencing is February 6.
