"General Hospital" Actor Johnny Wactor Dead at 37 After Shooting

Johnny Wactor, the actor famous for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital, was tragically shot and killed on May 25 in Los Angeles during an attempted theft of his car's catalytic converter, PEOPLE confirms. He was 37 years old.

The LAPD reports receiving a call about a shooting on Hope Street and Pico Boulevard overnight on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, Wactor had confronted three suspects who were trying to steal the catalytic converter. One of the suspects then shot him.

Wactor was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Wactor made his television debut in the Lifetime drama series Army Wives. He also appeared in series such as Westworld, The OA, Station 19, Siberia, Agent X, Vantastic, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Girl, Training Day, Criminal Minds, Struggling Servers, Age Appropriate, NCIS, The Passenger, and Barbee Rehab.

His film appearances include the 2016 feature USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Nicolas Cage, Tom Sizemore, and Thomas Jane. Other film credits include Menthol, Ever, Trapper’s Edge, Supercell, and Dead Talk Tales: Volume I.

He is survived by his mother Scarlett and brothers Lance and Grant.
