Adrien Brody wins Best Actor Oscar for The Brutalist

On Sunday night, the 2025 Oscars recognized the best of the previous year in cinema.

The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O'Brien, concluded with "Anora" winning the coveted trophy for best picture.

"Anora" was the top film of the night, winning five Oscars, including best director for Sean Baker.

Adrien Brody won best actor for "The Brutalist," while Mikey Madison took best actress for "Anora." Zoe Saldaña from "Emilia Pérez" and Kieran Culkin from "A Real Pain" were the winners of the supporting categories.

Before the event, "Emilia Pérez" lead the field of nominees with 13 total Oscar nominations.  It finished the night with two trophies.

This year's program recognized the city of Los Angeles in the aftermath of the wildfires that killed at least 29 people and destroyed hundreds of houses earlier this year, inviting firefighters to the stage and presenting a charitable component to benefit fire victims.
