A$AP Rocky must face trial for firing gun at former friend, judge rules

On Monday, a Los Angeles court declared that there was sufficient proof for A$AP Rocky to face trial about allegations that he shot a former associate and buddy outside a Hollywood hotel in 2021.

Judge M.L. Villar of the Superior Court rendered the decision at a preliminary hearing that lasted about a day and a half. In response to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, Rocky entered a not guilty plea.

Alongside Rihanna, he has two young sons. The 35-year-old hip-hop artist, fashion mogul, and two-time Grammy nominee is in a relationship.

According to Villar, "the entirety of the video and testimony" demonstrates that there is enough proof to proceed with the defendant's trial. She made it clear that compared to trials, preliminary hearings had a far lower burden of proof.

Rocky remained still while seated in the courtroom.

“We’re not disappointed, not surprised, we expected to go to trial, we’ve been planning for trial all along,” Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, said outside court. “Rocky is going to be vindicated when all this is said and done, without question.”
