Drew Gordon, a former NBA player, dies in an automobile accident at age 33
Former NBA forward Drew Gordon, the older brother of Denver's Aaron Gordon, passed away in a car accident in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday at the age of 33.
“The Denver Nuggets organization is devastated to learn about the tragic passing of Drew Gordon,” the team posted on X. “Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones,” the statement added.
A police spokesperson confirmed that Gordon was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Clackamas County, Oregon, and died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Standing six-foot-nine, Gordon was a native of San Jose, California. He had a brief NBA career, appearing in nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-2015 season, where he averaged 1.9 points and two rebounds per game. Beyond the NBA, Gordon played in the G League and for several international teams, with stints in France, Italy, Russia, Japan, Ukraine, and Poland.
Gordon retired from professional basketball in 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, and their three children.
