Steve Kerr, the coach of the Warriors, seems unfazed that his contract is about to expire

Even though he is entering the last year of his contract, Steve Kerr is not worried about his long-term status as the Golden State Warriors' coach.

Even if it doesn't happen before the season begins, Kerr is optimistic that a contract extension will be reached between new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and owner Joe Lacob.

Kerr declared on Monday, "I feel great about my position here." I'd like to be present. Knowing that Joe and Mike want me here gives me a great deal of confidence that something will get done. However, I'm not at all anxious about it. Whether I get an extension or have another year remaining, I can coach just fine. Does not alter anything.

In his nine years as the Warriors' coach, Kerr has a 473-238 record, and he has guided the team to four titles and two more NBA Finals appearances.

He was a member of the nucleus of a championship team that included Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry. Curry and Green will remain under team control through the 2025–26 campaign thanks to an extension Golden State granted to their contracts earlier in the offseason.

Similar to Kerr, Thompson is approaching the end of his deal, and according to Dunleavy, the organization hopes to finalize contract extensions for both.
