NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar hospitalized in L.A. following hip break

NBA icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who fell during a concert, will have hip surgery, his longtime business partner announced on Saturday.

Deborah Morales stated that the 76-year-old former basketball center "had an accidental fall and broke his hip" on Friday night while he was at a concert. The news was initially broken by TMZ.

“We are all deeply appreciative of all the support for Kareem, especially from the Los Angeles Fire Department who assisted Kareem on site,” Morales said.

A hospital in Los Angeles received Abdul-Jabbar. Thanking the "wonderful medical staff and doctors at UCLA Hospital who are taking great care of Kareem now," Morales expressed gratitude.

With 38,387 points scored, Abdul-Jabbar ranks second all-time in the NBA scoring standings. LeBron James passed him in February 2023.
