Heat forward Haywood Highsmith is involved in an automobile accident

The Miami Heat made the announcement on Wednesday that forward Haywood Highsmith had been in an automobile accident while returning from the team's Tuesday night game at the Kaseya Center in Miami versus the Orlando Magic. Highsmith was ruled out of the San Antonio Spurs game on Wednesday night due to "personal reasons."

Highsmith was not hurt in the accident, according to the Miami Sun-Sentinel, but others were. Although they did not release any information regarding the incident, the Heat did state that "our hearts go out to those who were injured."

"We have been made aware that Highsmith was involved in a car accident heading home from last night's game," the Heat said in a statement. "Highsmith is listed as out for tonight's contest against the San Antonio Spurs due to Personal Reasons. Our hearts go out to those who were injured. We will have no further comment at this time."
