Jacque Vaughn, head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, is fired

The Brooklyn Nets have announced the dismissal of head coach Jacque Vaughn from his position, stating that the team will soon designate an interim replacement.

Contrary to earlier speculations of Vaughn's termination, the Nets officially confirmed the decision in a statement released on Monday.

Currently, the team holds a record of 21-33 for the season and occupies the 11th position in the Eastern Conference, narrowly missing out on a Play-In Tournament berth.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision, but one we feel is in the best interest of the team going forward,” Nets General Manager Sean Marks said.

Jacque Vaughn, aged 49, served as head coach for his second year after his promotion from assistant coach in 2022.

During the previous season, Vaughn played a role in guiding the Nets to the playoffs, though they were subsequently eliminated in a 4-0 sweep by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
