After a cardiac arrest, Damar Hamlin is active for his first NFL regular-season match
It is the first time Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been listed as active for an NFL regular-season game since he went into cardiac arrest on the field the previous season.
For the game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the Bills have Hamlin listed as active. They have also shared a video of Hamlin running onto the field with his teammates while wearing his uniform on social media.
The game on Sunday is Hamlin's first since he was hit in the chest during a Monday Night Football match against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023, causing his heart to stop.
Approximately one week following the cardiac arrest, Hamlin was transferred from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center to Buffalo General Hospital in New York. Nine days after being admitted to Buffalo General Hospital, on January 11, he was discharged.
Three months after Hamlin's collapse, the team announced in April that he was "working out" with them. Before the preseason began, the team announced in late July that Hamlin was "full go" at training camp.
