Jason Kelce, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, has announced his retirement from the NFL

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, aged 36, declared his retirement from the NFL during a heartfelt press conference on Monday.

Kelce, likely destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, boasts a record of seven Pro Bowl appearances and six All-Pro selections. He dedicated his entire 13-season NFL tenure to the Eagles, notably contributing to the team's triumphant 2018 Super Bowl victory.

Speculation arose about Kelce's retirement following the Eagles' playoff defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in January, where he hinted at the possibility but refrained from confirming it officially. This ambiguity fueled conjecture about a potential return for one final season with the Eagles.

However, Kelce put the speculation to rest on Monday, announcing via X – formerly known as Twitter – that he had reached a decision and would elucidate further during the afternoon press conference.

In 2023, Kelce's team fell short in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by his younger brother Travis Kelce. This marked the first instance of siblings facing off in a Super Bowl matchup.
