Lionel Messi scores twice in a dominant Inter Miami win, breaking two Major League Soccer records

The new Major League Soccer season has seen an outstanding start for Lionel Messi.

Continuing his dominant performance alongside Inter Miami, the Argentine icon scored twice in a decisive 4-1 victory against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Saturday night.

Messi scored coolly from close range in the 32nd and 67th minutes. In addition to his scoring prowess, Messi provided his seventh assist of the year, setting up former Barcelona teammate Luis Suárez for Miami's fourth goal in the 88th minute.

Inter Miami currently leads the MLS Eastern Conference following an exceptional start, which includes six victories in 11 games.

Every time Messi takes to the field he draws crowds of fans to witness a player who has clinched eight Ballon d'Or awards and lifted the World Cup with Argentina. During Nashville SCs match against Miami at Chase Field, a record home attendance was recorded.

In addition to guiding the team to its trophy August and driving them to lead Eastern Conference standings this season Messi has played a pivotal role, in turning around Miamis fortunes.
