Real Madrid Beats Dortmund for 15th Champions League title
Vinicius Junior scored, securing a record-extending 15th European Cup for Real Madrid with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final on Saturday.
Second-half goals from Dani Carvajal, marking his first Champions League goal since 2015, and a strike by Vinicius Junior in the 83rd minute clinched Madrid's win. This victory also marked the fifth Champions League success for coach Carlo Ancelotti, further enhancing his record as the most successful coach in the competition's history.
Dortmund coach Edin Terzic said his side "deserved a little bit more" but lacked "killer instinct".
"Above all in the first half we had the feeling that we had them. From the first second we showed them that we’re here to win it."
For several players, this was the last opportunity to win a major trophy with their clubs. Toni Kroos of Real Madrid is retiring at the end of the season after competing in the Euros for Germany.
The midfielder, a key figure in Madrid's success over the past decade, will retire in July. Meanwhile, Dortmund's Marco Reus will be leaving Signal Iduna Park after this match.
