According to the US Navy Secretary, the US Navy has spent $1 billion on munitions to stop attacks in the Middle East
The US Navy Secretary revealed on Tuesday that the Navy has allocated nearly $1 billion towards munitions to fend off "over 130 direct assaults" on US military and commercial vessels in the Middle East within the last six months.
During his testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee, Secretary Carlos Del Toro emphasized the urgent need for lawmakers to approve the supplemental national security package to restock munitions.
"In the past six months alone, we've thwarted over 130 direct attacks on US Navy and merchant vessels," Del Toro informed the committee. "We currently require nearly $1 billion in munitions replenishment. Therefore, the allocation of over $2 billion in the supplemental funding is absolutely crucial for our Navy and Marine Corps to restock these munitions and sustain the defensive capabilities we've demonstrated over the past six and a half months."
