9 people died, including 5 children, after an SUV crashed into a canal in Florida
Authorities reported that after a car overturned in a Florida canal, nine people—including five minors—were killed.
In Palm Beach County, the incident happened on Monday night. Authorities claimed that complaints of an automobile in a canal close to Belle Glade started coming in at around 7:30 p.m. According to Capt. Tom Reyes of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, first responders discovered an upside-down car with just the wheels visible.
According to a crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the driver failed to negotiate a left curve, causing the 2023 Ford Explorer to go into the grass shoulder and hit the railing before overturning into the canal.
According to police, four individuals were pronounced dead on the site, while six were brought to a local hospital, five of whom died.
“We have one survivor for a total of 10 victims,” the sheriff’s office said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this heartbreaking incident.”
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, there were four adults and five youngsters among the deceased victims. Their ages are yet unknown. According to investigators, the driver was one of the victims of the collision.
Jorden Hall, 26, was the only passenger to survive, according to the crash report. Because of the injuries he received in the incident, he is still in the hospital.
The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
