President-elect Donald Trump has stated that he will "most likely" defer a TikTok ban for 90 days after taking office on Monday, but has not made a final decision.

Trump stated that it would be "appropriate" to allow an extension for the Chinese-owned social networking site, which was outlawed under a bipartisan law passed last year and reaffirmed by the Supreme Court last week.

“I think that would be, certainly, an option that we look at. The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it’s appropriate. You know, it’s appropriate. We have to look at it carefully. It’s a very big situation,” Trump said in the interview.

“If I decide to do that, I’ll probably announce it on Monday,” he added.

Without an extension, TikTok will be down on Sunday. The rule established last year permits the president to postpone the ban for 90 days while providing evidence that parties trying to sell TikTok to a US-owned corporation have made considerable progress.

TikTok's CEO, Show Chew, has visited with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in the weeks leading up to the ban's implementation, and he is also set to attend Trump's inauguration on Monday.
