Wegmans recalls frozen chicken nuggets because of potential bone fragments

Wegmans Food Markets has voluntarily recalled some of its frozen, fully cooked chicken nuggets because they may contain bone pieces.
The recall coincides with a public health advisory issued by the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, which advises the public not to consume the implicated items.
According to FSIS, the affected products were manufactured on August 26, 2024, and sold in 46-ounce packages labeled "Wegmans FAMILY PACK FULLY COOKED Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat" on the front and a "best if used by" date of August 26, 2025 on the back, near the barcode "in the lower right corner."
Packages also have the number "P-33944" inside the USDA mark of inspection, which is seen on all meat, poultry, and egg products.
The chicken nuggets were sent to Wegmans stores in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. A recall was not sought since the item is no longer available for purchase, according to the agency.
FSIS says it was contacted after Wegmans received complaints from many customers who found bone pieces in the food. According to the organization, there have been no confirmed complaints of consumption-related injuries.
"FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers," the announcement said. "Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."
Customers with concerns regarding the health alert can call Wegmans at (855) 934-3663, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, or Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
