At least 1 dead, 5 injured in Indianapolis Waffle House shooting
In the early hours of Monday morning, a shooting occurred at a Waffle House in Indianapolis, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to five others.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Waffle House on South Lynhurst Drive around 12:40 a.m., where they discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds, as stated in their release.
Among the injured was a critically wounded woman, who later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, as confirmed by the police. The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office once her next of kin have been notified.
The remaining victims, three men and one woman, were reported to be in stable condition according to the police statement.
In addition, officers were made aware of a sixth victim, a man in critical condition, who either self-transported to a hospital or received assistance from someone else, the police stated.
Preliminary investigations conducted by homicide detectives suggest that the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between two groups, escalating into gunfire, according to the department.
