Texas authorities report 2 killed and 3 injured during a shooting outside an Austin shopping complex

Authorities say that there was a shooting Thursday outside of a big shopping center in Austin, Texas. Two people were killed and three others were hurt, one of them very badly.

The Austin Police Department said that the gunfire near The Arboretum on the north side of the city didn't seem to be a threat to the public. Police said on X, which used to be called Twitter, that no one was being held.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services says that two people were found dead at the scene. Authorities say that one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and that two other people were checked out for minor injuries.
