The Nvidia CEO suggests Malaysia could be an AI producing hub
Nvidia's CEO said Friday that Malaysia could be a hub for AI "manufacturing," but he did not confirm that the chipmaker is in talks with a local conglomerate to set up AI data centers there.
Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang told Kuala Lumpur reporters that YTL Corp. could help set up AI data centers.
Huang did not confirm that Nvidia is in talks with YTL, which has interests in utilities, telecommunications, cement, construction, and property development, at a media roundtable. He said, “YTL is an extraordinary company and has an incredible leadership and legacy.”
A key hub for SEA's computing infrastructure is Malaysia. Access to land, facilities, and power is crucial, he said. “YTL could play a great role in that.”
Huang said Malaysia's packaging, assembly, and other manufacturing skills make it ideal for AI manufacturing. He said Nvidia worked with 80 AI startups in the country.
“In Malaysia, the data center infrastructure layer of computing, which is crucial to AI and the cloud, is very successful,” Huang said.
