Several hospitalized after plane crash in Middle Tennessee, officials say

A plane with several people on board has crashed in Coffee County, Tennessee, about 60 miles south of Nashville, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
“Initial reports suggest 16–20 people were on board. Some have been airlifted to nearby hospitals,” the highway patrol said in an X post Sunday afternoon. “This is an active scene.”
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security told only two people on board the plane were seriously injured, adding that there are no known fatalities at this time.
According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, the Sunday crash was reported near the Tullahoma Regional Airport and Old Shelbyville Highway, about 75 miles southeast of Nashville.
Lyle Russell, a City of Tullahoma spokesman, said that although nobody perished in the incident, there were some minor injuries.
“At approximately 12:15p on Sunday, June 8th, a plane crash occurred at Tullahoma Regional Airport,” Russell said. “The scene is being secured by local authorities while FAA officials are en route to continue the investigation.”
THP has asked residents to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to work.
Initial information suggests the aircraft was a skydiving plane, according to a law enforcement officials.
