Searchers on Sunday located a small plane that had three people aboard that crashed off the coast of Pacific Grove in central California, and found two people who were unresponsive, the authorities said.

Around 10:55 p.m., the Coast Guard got a call that a twin-engine Beechcraft with three persons on board had crashed. The plane first took off from San Carlos Airport in San Mateo County.

The U.S. Coast Guard stated on Sunday morning that the plane was in the air for about 30 minutes before crashing into the Pacific Ocean, roughly 200 to 300 yards off Point Pinos, on the southwestern side of Monterey Bay.

"Station Monterey launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew, which arrived on scene approximately 15 minutes after notification," the Coast Guard said in a news release. "Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco also coordinated the launch of an Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew."

On Sunday, the Coast Guard claimed they had spotted the jet and two individuals who were not responding. They are still looking for the third individual.

The mission included a Coast Guard helicopter, three Cal Fire rescue boats, and units from the Pacific Grove Police Department and Monterey County.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the F.A.A. announced they were looking into the incident.
