The latest Pixel 9 smartphones offer top notch Google AI features
Google revealed on Tuesday that Android devices will soon get additional artificial intelligence functions. Google wants to get its AI in front of consumers before Apple, which will release its AI on iPhones, Macs, and iPads later this year. This is demonstrated by the decision to make its Gemini AI assistant available on compatible devices.
“We’ve completely rebuilt the assistant experience with Gemini, so you can speak to it naturally the way you would with another person,” said Android Ecosystem President Sameer Samat in a Tuesday blog post. “It can understand your intent, follow your train of thought and complete complex tasks.”
“Starting today, you can bring up Gemini’s overlay on top of the app you’re using to ask questions about what’s on your screen,” Samat wrote. It will be available on hundreds of phone models from dozens of device makers, according to Google.
The voice of Gemini's aide is varied. With the company's Gemini "Live" feature—which it initially unveiled at its May developer conference—users may engage in human-like dialogue. "Live" will first be accessible on a limited number of devices and to users of Google's $19.99/month Gemini Advanced program.
Additionally, Google unveiled its most recent lineup of in-house "Pixel" phones, which includes the Gemini AI-enabled Pixel 9, Pro, XL, and Fold models.
All of the Pixel 9 phones—including the Pro 9, Pro 9 XL, and the recently rebranded Pro 9 Fold—have gone Pro, with the exception of the base model. The new cameras also contain a lot of the company's major AI magic, which can perform things like add people to photos after they are taken.
Among the new features of the Pixel 9 series are an improved camera and a 35% brighter screen for better viewing in direct sunlight. In order to facilitate AI use, it comes with 16GB of RAM and Google's most recent Tensor G4 processor. Random Access Memory, or RAM for short, is a crucial component of a computer's hardware that holds the data required to run programs.
RAM is essential for a smartphone's artificial intelligence to function. According to Google, a phone's memory capacity has a significant impact on its ability to run AI.
