Apple plans to simplify texting between Android and iPhone devices
Apple announced that it will implement a messaging standard the next year to facilitate more seamless texting between Android and iPhone users.
For over a year, the iPhone manufacturer had been defying the Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard, despite pressure from Alphabet's Google and other stakeholders to embrace the technology.
According to Apple, the new technology would be more interoperable than SMS or MMS and operate with iMessage.
Known as the industry standard for messaging, RCS enables users to talk via WiFi or cellular connection, send and receive high-quality images and videos, and track when messages have been viewed, among other features.
