Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10-year jail sentence after being convicted of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion, was stabbed in prison and taken to the hospital on Monday, officials said.

The 32-year-old Canadian artist, whose actual name is Daystar Peterson, was stabbed in the prison yard at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the incident occurred at 7:20 a.m. on Monday in a prison housing unit.

Lanez was transferred to an outside medical institution for additional treatment after receiving medical care from prison staff, according to CDCR authorities.

"An investigation has been initiated by CCI's Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney's Office," CDCR's statement said.

There was no information provided on the suspected attacker.

It's not immediately clear what his current condition is.

Lanez was convicted of three crimes in December 2022 for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Pete) in July 2020 during a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home. During the trail, she testified that Peterson shot at her feet five times and that he told her to "dance, b----" as she was walking away from a car they were riding in together.

He had pleaded not guilty, but was convicted in a jury trial in December 2022 on three felony counts: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

In the high-profile case, authorities allege Lanez subjected Megan to two and a half years of intimidation and harassment following the shooting.

Peterson was denied bond by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Sept. 14, 2023, as his legal team appeals his 10-year sentence.
