2-year-old Preston Ordone, known on TikTok as the "Okay Baby," died in a car crash Thursday, according to Louisiana State Police.

With cops saying he was improperly buckled in his seat at the time and his family denying the claim.

Preston Ordone, 2, was traveling with his parents in a 2011 Ford 5-150 pick-up truck near New Orleans at 11:50 a.m. Thursday when the car went off the road and collided with a tree, according to Louisiana State Police and a video statement from two family members.

"Preston, who was seated in the rear, but improperly restrained in a child safety seat, … sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries," according to a press release from the police.

“Louisiana State Police stress that proper restraint use significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in a crash,” authorities said. "The proper use of seat belts and child safety seats can be the difference between life and death."

Preston's grandpa, Glen Norris, told the New Orleans Advocate newspaper on Friday that a witness at the scene informed him that the toddler's car seat was correctly secured. Norris described the state police's tweet as "hurtful and painful."

Officials said that Preston's parents, Katelynn, 25, and Jaelan Ordone, 27, were critically hurt.

Katelynn Ordone's TikTok account was updated on Sunday, with family stating that she had several fractured bones and that Jaelan Ordone had emergency surgery to insert pins and rods in a leg.

Paisley, the family's 7-year-old daughter, was at school when the collision occurred, according to a relative.

Police said they are still investigating the collision and are waiting for the results of the driver's "routine" toxicological test.  It was unclear whose parent drove.

Katelynn Ordone, who has over 400,000 TikTok followers, began sharing videos of Preston in 2023.

Preston, often in overalls, became affectionately known online as the "Okay Baby" after Katelynn Ordone posted videos telling him not to do something, with him sweetly replying “OK” and proceeding to do the act anyways.

The family started a GoFundMe page for medical expenses, with more than $30,000 raised by Monday.
