The FDA cautions that 26 eye drop products may cause infections in the eyes and blindness

The US Food and Drug Administration alerts consumers to the possibility that 26 over-the-counter eye drop medications, including those marketed under store names like CVS, Target, and Rite Aid, could cause a dangerous eye infection that could cause blindness or visual loss.

The agency is proposing that the items be recalled after discovering "insanitary conditions in the manufacturing facility and positive bacterial test results from environmental sampling of critical drug production areas in the facility."

The eye drops are intended to be sterile and are marketed under the names CVS Health, Rite Aid, Target Up&Up, Leader (Cardinal Health), Rugby (Cardinal Health), and Velocity Pharma.

The FDA states that there are currently no reports of injuries resulting from the use of the goods; nonetheless, individuals "who have signs or symptoms of an eye infection after using these products should talk to their health care provider or seek medical care immediately."

Additionally, it suggests that anyone in possession of these eye drops throw them away right away.

The goods will no longer be sold online by Target, Rite Aid, and CVS, and will be taken off store shelves. The FDA stated that although the items sold under the names Rugby, Leader, and Velocity might still be accessible in some stores or online, they shouldn't be bought.
