Parts of the Los Angeles neighborhood Shadow Hills are under an evacuation order

Because of the potential for dangerous landslides brought on by the heavy rains expected in the area through Tuesday, the Los Angeles Fire Department has advised residents living in certain parts of Shadow Hills, a community in the San Fernando Valley, to leave immediately.

The La Tuna Canyon Road area, which is bounded to the north by Horse Haven Street, to the east by Martindale Avenue, to the south by Penrose Street, and to the west by Ledge Avenue, is under an evacuation order. A map of the evacuation area was shared by LAFD.

The Sunland Senior Citizen Center and Lake View Terrace Recreation Center have been designated as an evacuation center for individuals and their pets by the authorities.

Large animals are being urged to be evacuated to the Hansen Dam Horse Park and LA Equestrian Center; Shadow Hills is well-known for its riding clubs and horse stables.

"Debris flows can bring water, mud, boulders, and other debris that can cover cars and houses. Pack all people and pets into your vehicle and leave the area immediately," the LAFD statement said.
