Meadows, Giuliani, Trump supporters indicted by Arizona grand jury for 2020 election involvement
An Arizona grand jury accused 18 people Wednesday for allegedly using alternate electors after 2020.
Trump is labeled “Unindicted Coconspirator 1” in the conspiracy, fraud, and forgery accusation. Redacted names of those charged but not served are also listed in the document: Meadows, Trump's former White House chief of staff; Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and Trump attorney; Epshteyn, a Trump campaign official and attorney; Mike Roman, a former Trump campaign and White House official; Jenna Ellis, Christina Bobb, and John Eastman, another Trump legal adviser after the 2020 election.
Arizona Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes claimed other defendants' names were deleted from court documents because they hadn't been served. Some were recognized by court filings.
Mayes said fraud, forgery, and conspiracy—class 2, 4, and 5 felonies—are being charged.
Arizona was one of seven states Trump defeated in 2020 where his aides allegedly tried to forge an electoral roll.
Preventing "the lawful transfer of the presidency of the United States," keeping "Trump in office against the will of Arizona voters, and depriving Arizona voters of their right to vote and have their votes counted," court records said.
In his 2024 reelection bid, Trump's efforts to reverse the 2020 election have led to judicial cases like the Arizona allegations.
