Donald Trump is now officially the 47th president of the United States, having taken the oath of office on Monday. Vice President J.D. Vance was also sworn in.

Due to the frigid weather outside, the event was held within the Capitol Rotunda. Former presidents, very important tech millionaires, and politicians gathered to see the conclusion of one government and the beginning of another.

In his address, Trump blasted the Biden administration and articulated his vision for the country under his leadership. He said that "a tide of change is sweeping the country" and "America's decline is over."

Trump said he wants to be remembered as a “peace maker and unifier,” and closed on a message of strength for the country. “We will not be intimidated. We will not be broken and we will not fail,” he said.

Trump outlined several executive orders he intends to sign later today, including declaring a national emergency at the US southern border. Trump further stated that he'd "sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America."

On immigration, Trump criticized "dangerous criminals" who he said had entered the country illegally, as well as a lack of border security. He argued the previous government had failed to safeguard Americans.

Trump slammed President Joe Biden, saying his government “cannot manage a simple crisis at home while at the same time stumble into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad.”

Following his inauguration, President Donald Trump is signing his first batch of executive actions in the US Capitol.

Trump will finalize and sign executive orders in the Capitol after his inauguration, while others will be signed during his on-stage performance at Capital One Arena the same day.
