Tornadoes tear through two towns in eastern China, killing 10 people
Ten people have died after two tornadoes hit two towns in the eastern province of Jiangsu in China.
It's the latest deadly extreme weather event to hit a country that has been dealing with severe floods and high heat waves over the past few months.
State station CCTV says that a strong tornado that hit Suqian city in Jiangsu province on Tuesday killed five people and hurt four others very badly. This county is on the eastern coast of China.
CCTV said that more than 400 people had to move, and more than 130 homes were destroyed in the city.
Separately, a bigger tornado killed five people and hurt four others in Yancheng on Tuesday night. Yancheng is southeast of Suqian city and north of Shanghai, which is China's biggest city. CCTV said that 129 people have been moved to safer places.
