Tornadoes in Tennessee have left many injured and at least six confirmed dead
Saturday tornadoes and thunderstorms killed at least six people in Tennessee.
Emergency management officials reported three deaths in Madison, Tennessee, north of Nashville.
“We have teams assessing damage and looking for patients,” the Nashville OEM announced on X, formerly Twitter. “Unfortunately, we can confirm there are three fatalities as a result of the severe weather on Nesbitt Lane.”
Montgomery County officials reported three deaths, including a toddler, after a tornado hit Clarksville.
Montgomery County stated, “At this time we can confirm that three people are deceased, two adults and one child as a result of the tornado that touched down this afternoon.” “Additionally, 23 people were hospitalized.”
A “search and rescue phase” is underway to find more dead or injured.
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts declared an emergency Saturday night. Police will enforce a 9-p.m. curfew Saturday and Sunday.

Sumner County officials reported “significant damage” from a tornado that hit Gallatin and Hendersonville, Tennessee, northeast of Nashville, Saturday.
On Saturday, severe weather spread across 1,200 miles of eastern US from the Gulf Coast to the Canadian border, causing tornadoes.
As severe storms rolled through northwest Tennessee, officials advised drivers to stay off roads.
