Almost 14,000 children dead in Gaza since war began, UNICEF says
According to Catherine Russell, executive director of UNICEF, more than 13,800 children have died in the Gaza Strip since the conflict began on October 7.
In a statement from her organization, she stated, "Thousands have been injured and thousands more are on the brink of famine," at a press conference in New York.
"One child is injured or dies every 10 minutes" in Gaza, according to a statement released by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. More than 10,000 women have died in Gaza since the conflict started, the statement continued, with 6,000 of them leaving 19,000 orphaned children in their wake.
