Hamas launches missile attack on Tel Aviv
At least eight rockets were launched from the Rafah area in southern Gaza, the Israeli military reported, adding that several were intercepted. No injuries were reported.
This marks the first time in nearly four months that Hamas has attacked central Israel, coinciding with an Israeli military operation in Rafah that defies a ruling by the UN's top court.
The attack occurred ahead of upcoming ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, expected to resume next week.
Air raid sirens sounded in cities including Tel Aviv, Herzliya, and Petah Tikva, underscoring the ongoing threat Hamas poses to people across Israel.
Palestinian media reported that at least one person was killed and several others were injured in an Israeli air strike on a residential home in central Rafah.
The UN reports that more than 800,000 Palestinians have fled the southern city, with about 1.5 million previously seeking shelter there from fighting elsewhere in Gaza.
Since the war began, at least 35,800 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry.
