Palestinian officials report at least 29 killed in Israeli attacks in Rafah on Tuesday
At least 29 Palestinians were killed in two separate Israeli attacks on displacement camps in the Rafah governorate on Tuesday, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health and the Emergency Committee of the Rafah Governorate.
The first attack occurred around 3 a.m. local time in the Tal al-Sultan camp in western Rafah, resulting in at least eight fatalities. The victims were transferred to a field hospital in the camp, as reported by the committee.
The second attack took place on Tuesday afternoon local time, targeting a displacement camp in the southern coastal town of Al-Mawasi. This strike killed at least 21 people, including 13 women, and injured at least 64 others, with 10 in critical condition, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for the Palestinian president, described the latest Israeli assault on Rafah as a “massacre” and called for the enforcement of a decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to cease its offensive on Rafah.
Despite the ICJ ruling on Friday, which ordered Israel to stop its offensive, Israel has continued its military actions, citing that the court's decision allows for some scope of military activity in Rafah.
