Ahead of Hezbollah's planned "extensive" onslaught on Israeli territory, the Israeli military declared early on Sunday that it had conducted predawn airstrikes against sites in southern Lebanon.

“A short while ago, the IDF identified the Hezbollah terrorist organization preparing to fire missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory,” Israel Defense Force spokesperson Daniel Hagari said early Sunday local time.

”In a self-defense act to remove these threats, the IDF is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians,” Hagari added.

200 rockets were fired against Israel early on Sunday, according to the IDF. They were launched from Lebanon.

The Israeli military said on Sunday morning that it is carrying out preemptive attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon, prompting the airport authority to temporarily block flights from Tel Aviv airport.

Israel claimed to have given Lebanese citizens the warning to leave any regions where Hezbollah, a Shia Muslim organization supported by Iran, was present right away.

After the group's senior military commander was killed last month, Hezbollah said shortly after that it had carried out a massive drone attack on Israel.

Early on Sunday, sirens alerting people to impending rockets were audible throughout northern Israel.

Notifications of any injuries were made right away.

The security cabinet of Israel will meet urgently, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to situational evaluations, Hezbollah may launch an attack soon, according to reports in the Israeli media.

Since the start of the Gaza War, Hezbollah terrorists backed by Iran have been firing rockets toward Israel from southern Lebanon almost every day; nevertheless, the frequency of these encounters has been rising.
