Hezbollah has attacked the city of Safed in northern Israel, according to the Israeli military and local officials.

Hezbollah fired about thirty rockets, according to the Israel Defense Forces, some of which were intercepted. Municipal authorities in Safed claim that the city was struck by at least two missiles.

Israeli police said adding that “police officers and bomb disposal units are currently working to isolate the impact sites.”

According to Israeli Fire and Rescue Services, four workers were trying to extinguish fires created by the attacks. There were no early reports of casualties, but first responders were still searching for anyone who could have been trapped.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strikes, saying they were in support of “the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” as well as “in defense of Lebanon and its people.”
