According to first responders, more than 60 people were hurt, including some critically, in a drone attack in northern Israel.

There were no immediate official reports of deaths from the attack, but the large number of casualties recorded makes it one of the worst since the war began in October.

The report comes after Hezbollah announced on Sunday that it had launched a swarm of attack drones on an Israeli "Golani" army training center near Binyamina, south of Haifa. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the extremist organization claimed responsibility for the incident in revenge to Israeli bombings in Lebanon on Thursday that killed 22 people and injured 117.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Sunday that it had "intercepted" an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Lebanon, but did not identify where.

United Hatzalah, a rescue agency, reported that it had "provided assistance to over 60 wounded people in various conditions - some of them in critical, serious, moderate, and light condition."

“Helicopters and ambulances evacuated all the wounded,” it added.

The Golani Brigade is an infantry unit of the IDF stationed in southern Lebanon.

Many of the injured have been sent to Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in adjacent Hadera, while others have been rushed to hospitals in Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula, and Netanya. The Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in north-central Israel reported 36 casualties from a "UAV incident," with "various degrees of injury."

Details are still limited, however several of the victims appeared to be in a communal canteen at the time and were taken completely off guard. Images on social media appear to depict an empty mess hall with a hole in the roof.
