"Relentless bombardments" do not stop a UN organization from delivering medical supplies to Gaza's largest hospital
"Despite huge risks to our staff and health partners due to relentless bombardments," the primary UN agency in Gaza announced on Wednesday that it had managed to coordinate and transfer medical supplies and medicines to the largest medical facility in the enclave.
It was the second shipment of "lifesaving supplies" from the World Health Organization to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, according to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), since hostilities in Gaza escalated.
"The number of wounded increases by the hour while patients are undergoing immense and unnecessary pain as medicines and anesthetics are running out. In addition, tens of thousands of displaced people have sought shelter in the hospital's parking lots and yards," UNRWA added.
"Patients there cannot be denied the health care to which they are entitled and urgently need," the UN agency emphasized. The entire Gaza Strip should receive aid."
Since the first attack, gasoline has not been permitted into Gaza, including to the Al-Shifa hospital, and UNRWA reported that medical facilities are running low on supplies.
