UFC President Dana White revealed on Thursday that the headline bout of UFC 303, between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has been called off. McGregor sustained an injury before a press event in Dublin in June leading to the cancellation of this highly anticipated match.

The event originally slated for June 29 at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was meant to be McGregors comeback to the octagon after his defeat by Dustin Poirier in 2021. However due to the injury setback McGregor will have to postpone his return.

This setback comes after McGregors fight in July 2021 at UFC 264 where he suffered a round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier because of a broken tibia in his left leg, which required surgery and extensive recovery.

Renowned for both his persona and fighting skills McGregor stands as one of MMAs prominent figures headlining the top five highest grossing UFC pay per view events. This includes his 2018 clash, with Khabib Nurmagomedov that saw 2.4 million buys.

Chandler, a fighter and former Bellator champion was primed to face McGregor following a break since November 2022. Despite holding a UFC record of 2 3 Chandler has garnered performance bonuses in four of those bouts.
