Coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch both get new deals from the 49ers

On Friday, the San Francisco 49ers extended the contracts of general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan for a number of years.

Together, the two signed with the 49ers in 2017, and by the time their third season rolled around, they had transformed a squad that had only won two games the year before into a reliable contender.

Under Shanahan and Lynch, San Francisco is 55-46 with six postseason victories in over six seasons. The Niners are 45–25 since the 2019 season began, and they are second in yards per play (5.94) and seventh in scoring (26.4 ppg). It has been possible to overcome the absence of a great quarterback on the roster because to Shanahan's creative offensive concepts.

Under this leadership, the 49ers have done an excellent job of assembling talent. Players like Deebo Samuel, Fred Warner, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk have all emerged as some of the best in their respective fields.

Additionally, San Francisco has made some major trades: in the midst of the previous season, they acquired star running back Christian McCaffrey from Carolina and All Pro left tackle Trent Williams from Washington in 2020.
