Mike Babcock quits as coach of the Blue Jackets
The Stanley Cup-winning and two-time Olympic gold medalist coach Mike Babcock has lost his last two NHL jobs.
It was for losing too many games last time. This time, it was for his terrible prior behavior with players.
After a week of criticism for his invasive asks for players' personal images to bond, Columbus Blue Jackets coach Babcock resigned on Sunday after two months.
Following an NHL Players' Association investigation into Babcock's behaviour, the team abruptly fired him. Pascal Vincent replaced Babcock and signed a two-year contract through 2024-25.
Former NHL player Paul Bissonnette said on his podcast Tuesday that Babcock was requesting players to show him images and projecting them for others, violating privacy. Babcock and captain Boone Jenner refuted the claim, saying it was just the new coach getting to know players.
