David DePape, man who attacked Paul Pelosi, sentenced to 30 years in prison
A federal judge sentenced David DePape to 30 years, in prison on Friday for his role in the assault on Paul Pelosi, the spouse of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, that occurred in October 2022.
DePape was given a 30 year term for assault and an additional 20 years for attempted kidnapping both to be served concurrently.
Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley, who presided over DePapes trial in the Northern District of California stressed the importance of the sentence reflecting the seriousness of the crime.
“He broke into the home of an official and violently attacked the public official’s spouse. That act is unprecedented,” she said.
On November 16 federal jurors convicted DePape of attempting to kidnap an official and assaulting a family member of an official during the attack, on October 28 2022.
