Biden talks with Jordan's King Abdullah about war and supports a hostage agreement
At the White House on Monday, US President Joe Biden spoke with Jordan's King Abdullah II about a possible hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas that would involve a six-week ceasefire.
"The key elements of the deal are on the table. There are gaps that remain – but I've encouraged Israeli leaders to keep working to achieve the deal." The leaders of Qatar and Egypt, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Biden himself have been in talks about a deal for the past month. "The United States will do everything possible to make it happen," Biden stated.
In order to secure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza's civilian population and free the hostages held by Hamas, the US president declared that he and Abdullah have been working "day and night." Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the king for sending medical supplies by air to the area.
