In a helicopter crash close to the Texas–Mexico border, two soldiers and a Border Patrol agent died
According to officials, a helicopter crash near Rio Grande City, Texas, resulted in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and a Border Patrol agent, with a fourth individual sustaining injuries.
The UH-72 Lakota helicopter went down approximately at 2:50 p.m. local time while engaged in "aviation operations" in the vicinity, as outlined in a statement from the Defense Department’s Joint Task Force North. The helicopter had been assigned to support missions along the Southwest border of the United States.
The Joint Task Force North mentioned that the identities of the deceased will not be disclosed until their next of kin have been informed. The injured individual is identified as a soldier.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
