At 3.22pm, Metropolitan Police responded to a complaint in the capital's northeast area near Gallaudet University for the deaf and hard of hearing, and when they arrived, they quickly administered life-saving treatment to the victims.

Four ladies and two men were taken to a nearby hospital and were listed in stable condition as of Thursday night.

Meanwhile, a suspect was apprehended for the mass stabbing after being discovered laying on the ground nearby. The knife he reportedly used in the attack was also discovered steps away, with visible blood on it.

According to Police Chief Pamela Smith, he was also taken to a nearby hospital and was scheduled for surgery Thursday evening.

She claimed that he was in a 'altered mental state from an unknown drug' when he stabbed himself and a lady he was with in what she called a'senseless' act.

The unnamed culprit then stabbed a grandmother and her two grandkids, who Smith claimed were merely getting into a car and'minding their own business.'

At that point, two individuals tried to stop the offender but were also stabbed.
