Six dead, including shooter at Park Avenue Office Tower, NYPD says

Six people are dead, including the gunman, in tonight's shooting in Manhattan, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Sources say the shooter acted by himself.  The person was Shane Devon Tamura, 27, from Las Vegas. Tamura shot himself and died.

The suspected gunman was born in Hawaii but later moved to Las Vegas. Officials said he had a permission to carry a concealed firearm and a private investigator license that had expired in Nevada.

Police shared a photo of the alleged gunman walking into the building carrying a long gun.

Three high-ranking law enforcement officials indicated that one of the dead is an NYPD officer and that officer's family has been told.

Four other people also perished. The shooter is dead, and reports say he shot himself in the head.

The specific motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and law enforcement officials are looking at a number of different theories given the suspect's prior interests.
