Active Shooter Is Reported at Emory University in Atlanta

Late on Friday afternoon, Emory University claimed that there was an active shooter in a CVS store on the Atlanta campus.

Just after 5 p.m., the university advised on its website and on social media that people should shelter in place and avoid the area near Emory Point, an apartment complex across from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Atlanta police said they are at the site looking into reports of an active shooter close to Emory University. Police stated, "Please stay away from the area."

Emory University posted an emergency alert message saying: "Active shooter on Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS.  Run, hide, and fight. Stay away from the area.

According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department, they were looking into the matter and still gathering information.
