Authorities said that two kids, aged 8 and 10, died after a shooter opened fire at the Annunciation Catholic School during a morning Mass on the south side of Minneapolis. Police claimed that 17 additional people, including 14 children, were hurt in the horrific shooting.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the agency is investigating the shooting as “an act of domestic terrorism and hate crimes targeting Catholics.”

Patel added that Robin Westman is the name of the person who shot. The FBI director also said that the two kids who died were 8 and 10 years old, and that 14 other kids and three adults were hurt. The suspect, who was in their early 20s, shot themselves and died.

“The FBI will continue to provide updates on our ongoing investigation with the public as we are able,” he said in a post on X.

The city of Minneapolis says there is no threat right now.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said on the first week of school at Annunciation Catholic School, students were there to learn and share joy and curiosity — but instead were met with “evil and horror and death.”

“There shouldn’t be words for these types of incidents, because they should not happen, and there’s no words that are going to ease the pain of the families today,” Walz said at a news conference.
